Mocambique is Florianopolis longest beach at 12.5 km of pristine coastline protected by Rio Vermelho State Park. With zero infrastructure, untouched dunes, restinga vegetation, and Atlantic Forest, it is an ecological sanctuary. Strong waves and dangerous currents make swimming risky. It is the wildest and most preserved beach on the island.
Through Rio Vermelho Park (entrance via SC-406) or trails from Santinho (3 km) or Barra da Lagoa (2 km along the coast).
Summer for hiking. Avoid during rough seas. Bring water and sunscreen — no shade or shops.
Santinho is a 2.2 km surf beach in north Florianopolis known for strong waves and 5,000-year-old rock inscriptions on its cliffs. Home to the Costao do Santinho Resort, one of southern Brazil largest. A scenic trail connects it to wild Mocambique Beach.
Barra da Lagoa is a fishing village with 2.5 km of beach on east Florianopolis. It offers surf waves on the north end, a crystal-clear channel for swimming, and authentic seafood restaurants. The Prainha trail is a must-do. One of the most well-rounded beach experiences on the island.
Praia dos Ingleses is the largest north-facing beach in Florianopolis at 4.8 km. It offers moderate surf waves on the north end and calm family waters on the south. Full infrastructure with hotels, restaurants, and nightlife. Notable white sand dunes on the southern end. One of the island busiest neighborhoods.
